Hey {{first_name}},
Happy holidays! I hope youâre enjoying some well-deserved rest with family and friends.
With the new year just around the corner, now is the time to reflect on the past 12 months. What wins are you celebrating? What lessons have you learned? And most importantly, what are your priorities as you look ahead to 2025?
Over the past month, Iâve been working with clients to review their 3HAGs (3-Year Highly Achievable Goals), refine their annual priorities, and set focused plans for the first quarter.
Taking some downtime has also helped me reflect on my coaching conversations with clients and the incredible insights shared on The Freedom ExperienceÂŽ Podcast with business owners and thought leaders.
Momentum for the new year doesn't come from small adjustments alone. It's rooted in self-awareness and embracing proven strategies that create real impact.
This week, Iâm sharing some of the most powerful lessons from past guests to help you start 2025 with purpose and clarity.
Here they are:
-
Breaking Free from the CEO Doom Loop
-
Aligning Your "Why"
-
Strengthening Your Leadership Team
These are not quick fixesâtheyâre the big, enduring ideas guests share as critical to long-term success.

1. Breaking free from the CEO Doom Loop
The CEO Doom Loop is a relentless cycle of reactive leadershipâworking harder than ever yet feeling like youâre standing still.
When I spoke with Glen Dall, he likened it to being trapped in survival mode: constantly firefighting and putting out urgent fires, with no space to focus on the bigger picture or long-term strategy.
The first step is recognizing when youâre in the loop. Are you overly involved in daily operations? Do decisions always come back to you? These are telltale signs.
Take Richard Bryanâs story. When he took over his family business, he was overwhelmed. His solution? Bringing in a mentor, Frank, who helped him delegate tasks like email and scheduling to a virtual assistant.
This gave Richard the time to focus on strategy and empowered his team to take ownership. The business began thriving once everyone understood their roles and responsibilities.
Action Steps:
-
Identify tasks that are draining your time and delegate them.
-
Schedule weekly blocks for strategic thinkingâno exceptions.
-
Empower your team to make decisions without your constant input.
2. Aligning your "Why"
Why does your business exist?
This question gets to the core of your "why."
In my interview with Zach Mercurio, he described purpose as the invisible leader guiding every decision. Without it, businesses risk losing direction, chasing revenue aimlessly, and burning out.
Conversely, businesses with a clear purpose inspire employees, attract loyal customers, and create lasting impact.
Eric Rieger beautifully illustrates this. His companyâs purposeâclosing the wealth gapâshapes everything it does. From becoming an employee-owned company to serving as a model for others, its actions consistently align with its mission.
Purpose isnât just a feel-good concept; itâs a practical tool for alignment. It ensures that every decision, whether itâs about daily operations or long-term strategy, moves the business closer to its ultimate goal.
Action Steps:
-
Define your "why" in simple, clear terms and share it widely.
-
Use it as a filter for every decision. Does this align with your purpose?
-
Connect team roles to the companyâs mission to inspire and engage them.
3. Strengthening your leadership team
Your team determines your trajectory. In my interview with Tom Walter, he shared how he transformed his company by involving employees in defining core values.
This sense of ownership fostered accountability, reduced turnover, and fueled growth.
Similarly, in my interview with Richard Bryan, he described building a team of A-players, surrounding himself with individuals smarter than him in their areas of expertise.
"When I started in the business, I looked around the room and thought, âIâm the smartest person here,â which terrified me because I knew I wasnât that smart. Fast forward ten years, after building the team, I sat in the same room and realized, âIâm the dumbest person here.â That shift was the key to our successâit came from surrounding myself with people smarter than me and trusting them to excel in their areas of expertise."
A strong team isnât just about talent; itâs about trust and alignment. Great leaders empower their teams to make decisions and take responsibility, creating a culture where everyone thrives.
Action Steps:
-
Evaluate your leadership team. Would you enthusiastically rehire them?
-
Invest in emotional intelligence. Seek leaders who can build trust and cohesion.
-
Celebrate wins and learn from failures to maintain momentum and growth.

One quote to start the week strong
"The bottom line is that life is one big mind game. The only person you are playing against is yourself."â- David Goggins
As you head into the new year, remember that your mindset is often the biggest barrier to growth.
It's not just about the people around you or external circumstancesâit begins with you.
Change starts with self-awareness, questioning your assumptions, and embracing curiosity.
This year, challenge yourself to open up to new ideas, adopt fresh perspectives, and approach every day with a mindset ready for growth and discovery.
All the best for 2025!
