How to Accelerate Your 3-Year Business Goals
Last week a client asked me how he could accelerate his 3-year plan. He told me he knows where he wants to be in three years but wants to know how to get there quicker.
I challenged him, asking if he really knew where he wanted to be in 3 years and if he'd committed his plan to paper.
The short answer was NO.
Most entrepreneurs know they need a plan. You've read about missions and visions and big hairy audacious goals (BHAGs). You may even know that gutting out a three-year plan and chopping it into 90-day sprints makes sense.
But the vast majority of us DON'T do the work.
Instead, we're too busy hacking about in the weeds of the day-to-day operations to lift our heads and focus on the big picture. So the best-conceived plans languish in our minds until a compelling event – year-end, a shiny opportunity, a shrinking sales pipeline – jolts us into action. At least for a little while. Then we slip back into old habits, forget the plan, and our growth wheels lose traction.
And three years turns to five years and we're still not you're nowhere near your goals.
How do you nail your 3-year plan (fast)?
The answer is simple: do the work. Create a three-year highly achievable, get the right people on the bus, and hold yourselves accountable. And if you're struggling with this, invest in a coach. Olympic teams, football teams, and organizations use coaches to perform at the top of their game. You're no different.
